TOOLKITS
Tobacco-free living in psychiatric settings: A best-practices toolkit promoting wellness and recovery
http://www.nasmhpd.org/general_files/publications/NASMHPD.toolkitfinalupdated90707.pdfThis guide, published by the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors, offers evidence-based strategies to address the disproportionately high tobacco dependence rates among those with mental illnesses. Although smoking has become more socially unacceptable and less prevalent among the general population, smoking rates have risen among those with psychiatric diagnoses. The toolkit guides psychiatric hospital administrators through the steps of preparing for tobacco-free policies, implementing these policies, and sustaining the effort.
